I knew that sixth form wasn’t for me and was looking for a fresh opportunity. I contacted Way to Work who helped me find an Apprenticeship based around my interests. I’d studied design in school so thought it would be perfect to take up the role of Graphic Design Apprentice.

I was 16 when I joined RHP, and it was my first ‘proper’ job, so I really didn’t have a clue what to expect. Three years on, I’ve finished my apprenticeship, and I couldn’t be more grateful for what it’s given me. It’s not only helped me get my foot on the ladder as a Graphic Designer, but it’s help me grow in all sorts of ways that I never expected. I never would’ve imagined I’d be working as Junior Designer at Sky – which really is amazing.

The level of support I received from Way to Work really was second to none – I enjoyed every step of the way even when I found myself with challenges. My confidence has grown massively and I’ve found myself doing things I didn’t think I was capable of achieving. I’ve made friends which will last a life time and have learnt the importance of having a great work place culture.

So if you’re thinking about taking up an apprenticeship, what are you waiting for? You won’t just have an opportunity to kick start your career – you’ll develop and progress in all sorts of ways. It’s life changing stuff.
