Employer Description: Full day-care for Nursery and Preschool children
Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week Monday to Friday. E.g. 8:00am – 17:00pm with one hour for lunch
Annual Holiday Entitlement: 28 days including bank holidays
Pay: £172 per week if aged 16-18. £262.40 per week if aged 19+

Job Description
Working directly for the Manager

  • To provide high standards of childcare and education. To include providing a safe, caring environment to enable the development of the whole child through individual attention and group activities
  • To work under the direction of the Nursery Manager and follow the guidelines set down by Ofsted
    and the National Standards/EYFS
  • To promote the aims and objectives of Millie’s House Nursery & Preschool ∙ To complete your training and gain a childcare qualification and experience working in a full day care setting.

Key Accountabilities

  • To help the team deliver a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in conjunction with other staff
  • To support the team to deliver a programme of childcare which meets legislative standards and
    considers children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds and those who may have additional needs
  • To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by the Company
  • To help children acquire techniques, intervening in a sensitive way at times appropriate to the child so that he/she learns according to his/her needs – praise and encouragement being an integral part of the approach
  • To be responsible for the Health & Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children
  • To ensure confidentiality of information received
  • Demonstrate positive and proactive attitudes and behaviours throughout the nursery
  • Liaise with staff to help ensure that the particular needs of children are met ∙ Ensure the nursery environment is safe, hygienic, tidy and well presented at all times ∙ Ensure all company procedures are followed correctly e.g. recording of accidents and the collection of children
  • Ensure mealtimes are a valuable social occasion
  • Washing and changing of children as required
  • To attend monthly staff meetings and training sessions outside working hours
  • Attend all courses that are required as requested by the Manager
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by the business in line with the development of Millie’s House Nursery & Preschool
  • To take responsibility for personal compliance and align with Company Health and Safety Policies, ensuring safe working practises are maintained which minimise the risk to self, work colleagues, parents and children.

Desirable Skills

  1. Basic food hygiene certificate
  2. Recent first aid qualification
  3. Experience in a nursery and preschool setting

Skills & Abilities required

  1. Excellent communication skills with clear spoken English
  2. Knowledge of customer care, able to deal professionally with personal and telephone callers
  3. Accurate I.T. skills and knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and the Internet
  4. Able to work flexibly and independently within a team; asking for and giving support as needed
  5. Able to understand and respect the importance of confidentiality, both within and outside the
    workplace
  6. Aware of Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity
  7. Able to understand the importance of being punctual and the impact absence has on the effectiveness
