Organisation Name: Green Lane Primary School

Location:  Worcester Park

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, of which 7 hours will be given for apprenticeship training and with 45 minutes for lunch.

Pay:  £200 per week for the duration of the initial one year contract

Annual Holiday Entitlement: 23 days leave (ideally to be taken within school holidays) plus statutory days

Position Title: Facilities Management Apprentice                                        Age: 16 +

Job Description: Working within the premises team of a multi-academy trust:

  • Using the bespoke facilities management software system to diarise contractor maintenance visits to fit in with the school year
  • Using Excel to analyse data to produce reports
  • Supporting the help-desk function by assigning maintenance tasks as appropriate
  • Communicating by email internally & externally
  • Grounds maintenance, e.g. cutting grass, pruning trees etc.
  • Maintaining premises, e.g. decorating & assisting in keeping the school safe, secure, clean & tidy
  • Working on other school sites, always local & under appropriate supervision
  • Eventually taking responsibility for opening & closing school premises

  • Able to learn to work with minimum supervision
  • Aware of roles & responsibilities, policies & procedures & your own place within the team
  • Able to understand and respect the importance of confidentiality, both within and outside the workplace
  • Able to understand the requirements of Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity
  • Able to understand the importance of being punctual, being in good health and the impact absence has on the effectiveness of the team
  • A commitment to the Safeguarding and Child Protection policy which requires all staff to provide a safe environment for children and young people to learn and to promote their welfare.

Eligibility:

  • Anyone aged 18 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • GCSE’s passes in maths and English are not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework in Customer Service or Cleaning & Maintenance Services
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT (if required)
  • Level 2 BIIAB Diploma in relevant occupational areas
  • Minimum Duration: 12 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
