Employer description: Workforce Development Team – Achieving for Children – (Community interest organisation, providing children’s services for LBRUT, RBK & RBW&M)

Hours of work: A flexible working pattern of either 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm or 10.00 am to 6.00 pm with 45 minutes for lunch

Annual holiday entitlement: 25 days plus statutory days

Pay: £165 per week with six-monthly pay reviews

Job description: Working within a business support team

  • Providing technical support (e.g. helpdesk) to all training centre users
  • Maintaining & testing all equipment, lap-tops, projectors, telephone systems, used in the training centre
  • Reporting minor repairs & adjustments to the buildings & equipment as required, under supervision
  • Attending weekly operational management meetings & preparing a schedule/timetable of events
  • Setting up rooms (tables & chairs) according to room layouts requested by event & meeting organisers
  • Using spreadsheets to update & maintain the asset register and other tasks
  • Reception duties, greeting internal & external visitors, e.g. teachers, social workers, AfC staff, police, childcare providers etc.
  • Answering phones, taking messages & transferring calls internally
  • Using an IT training booking system called AfC CPD Online
  • Scanning and saving documents, monitoring & ordering stationery/equipment/refreshments
  • Providing technical & administrative assistance to our Training Centre in Kingston Borough

Skills & abilities required:

  1. Excellent communication skills with clear spoken and written English
  2. Knowledge of customer care, able to deal professionally with colleagues & customers face to face, over the phone & by email
  3. A very good level of I.T. skills, including a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Google Docs
  4. Aware of health & safety and equality & diversity
  5. Good organisational skills , able to follow procedures & meet deadlines
  6. Able to understand the importance of data protection and confidentiality both within & outside the workplace
  7. Flexible, able to work within a team, asking for & giving support as needed to colleagues
  8. Able to understand the importance of being punctual & the impact that absence has on the effectiveness of the team

Eligibility:

  • Anyone aged 16 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • GCSE passes in maths and English are desirable but not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour


Apprenticeship Information:

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework  – Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT at Level 1 (if required)
  • Level 2 BIIAB Diploma in Business Administration
  • Minimum duration: 12 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
