Job description:

  • To assist with planning, sourcing, setting up and implementing pupil activities or support programmes
  • Enable access to learning for all pupils
  • Provide general support and supervision offering an appropriate level of support to the class teacher/club manager in the management and organisation of resources and the teaching area
  • Support in behaviour management and reinforcing agreed policies and procedures
  • Support in the development of other key skills which aid pupils’ learning experience
  • Help translate tasks at pupil level by restructuring them into achievable steps
  • Take appropriate action related to any pupil concerns, problems or emergencies that occur in accordance with the School’s policies and procedures and helping to care for unwell children
  • Providing support in the after school club, 3 hours per day
  • Provide general administrative support e.g. photocopying, filing, laminating, collecting money etc.
  • Provide general organisation support to the school e.g. duties and educational visits

An ability to complete a complex & demanding learning programme with external examinations is a requirement for  Way2Work vacancies 


 Skills & abilities required:

  • A passion for helping children learn and reach their full potential
  • Good communication skills, with ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Able to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning and a friendly and flexible approach
  • Effective use of ICT to support learning/play
  • Use of other equipment technology – video, photocopier
  • Understanding of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  • General understanding of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
  • Able to understand the importance of being punctual and the impact absence has on effectiveness of the team


  • Anyone aged 16 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • GCSE’s passes in maths and English are not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT (if required)
  • Level 2 BIIAB Diploma in Business Administration
  • Minimum Duration: 12 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
