Hours of work: 8.30 am – 4.30 pm (Mon-Fri) with 30 minutes for lunch (this includes 1 hour every day after school to undertake independent study)

Annual holiday entitlement: Term time only

Pay: £200 per week

Job description:

  • Working under the guidance of SLT (Senior Leadership Team) and colleagues, in order to support and extend the
    children’s learning.
  • Provide general support to the class teacher in the management and organisation of the pupils resources and the
    classroom
  • Contribute to the management of pupil’s behaviour and reinforcing agreed policies and procedures whilst being
    an effective role model for pupil behaviour
  • Enable access to learning for all pupils and help to encourage children’s development, independence, self-
    reliance, initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Deliver work, care or support programmes to individual pupils or groups, including those with special educational
    needs
  • Support in the development of other key skills which aid pupils’ learning, e.g. Numeracy, Literacy
  • Help translate tasks at pupil level by restructuring them into achievable steps
  • Observing children’s activities and contributing to their written records.
  • Take appropriate action related to any problems or emergencies that occur during the sessions in accordance
    with the School’s policies and procedures
  • Provide admin and general organisation support when required to do so
  • Recognise confidentiality, safeguarding procedures, H&S and the policies of the Governing Body

Skills & abilities required:

  1. Effective use of ICT to support learning
  2. Use of other equipment technology – video, photocopier
  3. Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  4. General understanding of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
  5. Basic understanding of child development and learning
  6. Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
  7. Ability to relate well to children and adults
  8. Understanding the importance of confidentiality both within and outside the workplace
  9. Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these

Eligibility:

  • Anyone aged 16 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • GCSE passes in maths and English are desirable but not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in maths, English at Level 2 (if required)
  • Minimum duration: 18 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
