Overview

Hours of work:   Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.30pm with 1 hour for lunch –  to include 7 hours per week to spent on apprenticeship activities

Annual holiday entitlement: Term-time working only plus 1 week

Pay: £200 per week, with a six monthly pay review

Job Description:

Working within a busy school office team:

  • Answering phones, taking messages & dealing with simple queries
  • Meeting & greeting personal callers on reception, ensuring all visitors are signed in & out
  • Filing, scanning & dealing with incoming / outgoing post
  • Typing documents using Word, using Microsoft Excel & exporting info. from the school MIS
  • Using “parent-hub” & Google docs to communicate with parents
  • Responding to enquiries received in the information email account or forwarding to relevant member of staff
  • Assisting teachers on “photo-day” by collecting children from classrooms
  • Covering the first aid room & giving first aid when necessary, following necessary training
  • Providing admin support for the finance team, including ordering & checking deliveries etc.

 

An ability to complete a complex & demanding learning programme with external examinations is a requirement for Way2Work vacancies

Skills & Abilities required:

  1. Excellent communication skills with clear spoken English
  2. Able to communicate & support pupils & parents
  3. Knowledge of customer care, able to deal professionally with personal and telephone callers
  4. Accurate I.T. skills and knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and the Internet
  5. Able to work flexibly within a team; asking for and giving support as needed
  6. Able to understand and respect the importance of confidentiality, within and outside the workplace
  7. Aware of Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity
  8. Able to understand the importance of being punctual and the impact of absence on team effectiveness

Eligibility:

  • Anyone aged 16 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • GCSE passes in maths and English are desirable but not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Advanced Apprenticeship Framework  – Business & Administration
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT at Level 1 (if required)
  • Level 2 BIIAB Diploma in Business & Administration
  • Minimum duration: 12 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
