Employer Description: Supported Housing projects – Kingston and New Malden

Age: 18 + only

Hours of Work: 8.00 am – 4.00 pm (30 hours/4 days per week) with 1 hr for lunch (includes 6 hours each week to undertake required off-the-job training/study time)

Pay: 165 per week with a six monthly pay review

Annual Holiday Entitlement: 25 days paid holiday per year plus 8 statutory days (Pro-Rata)

Job Description:

Working alone to provide a professional service to the supported housing projects:

  • Carry out weekly and monthly Health & Safety inspection checks
  • Painting and decorating internal communal areas and flats/bedrooms
  • Weekly bell testing and recording
  • Clearing litter, rubbish and leaves from external areas of the properties
  • Bagging and removing rubbish from internal areas
  • Heavy duty cleaning, clearing rubbish & leaves from flat roof areas, deep cleaning of floors and carpets, and window cleaning
  • Garden maintenance including grass cutting, pruning, planting and weeding
  • General maintenance duties including changing (within reach) light bulbs, clearing drains, securing carpet edges, putting up shelves, blinds & curtains, putting together furniture, & minor repairs
  • Emergency repairs, where safe to do so, where there is a water, electric, glazing or other hazard until a specialist contractor can attend
  • Moving furniture and equipment as required
  • Undertaking any other duties in line with the general level of responsibility of the post

Skills & Abilities required:

  1. Ability to undertake physical tasks including lifting
  2. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions particularly in relation to the use of equipment and supplies
  3. Able to form non-judgemental relationships, especially with vulnerable young people, whilst holding clear boundaries
  4. Able to understand and respect the importance of confidentiality, both within and outside the workplace
  5. Aware of safe working practices
  6. Able to work towards a relevant qualification
  7. Fully aware of Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity

Eligibility:

  • Anyone aged 18 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • Applicants that hold a degree or equivalent qualification will not be eligible to apply
  • GCSE’s passes in maths and English are not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework in Customer Service or Cleaning & Maintenance Services
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT (if required)
  • Level 2 BIIAB Diploma in relevant occupational areas
  • Minimum Duration: 12 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
