Location: Surbiton / Kingston upon Thames

Hours of work: 8.30 am to 4.30 pm (Monday – Friday) with 1 hour for lunch

Annual holiday entitlement: 25 days plus statutory days

Pay: £165 – £210 per week

Job description: Providing administration support to a team of 20:

  • Providing various administration services for the team to ensure the effective day to day operations of the service, including scanning & photocopying documents
  • Ensuring Google Drive files are up to date, well maintained & archiving old files
  • Creating & updating standard documents & databases, using MS Word, Excel & Google docs
  • Using various systems to access & collate information & access records
  • Using Word to type minutes of meetings
  • Mail merging reports for school business partners
  • Making appointments & arranging meetings, including booking rooms
  • Taking phone messages for the Advisor Team

Skills & abilities required:

  1. Able to understand & respect the importance of confidentiality, both within & outside the workplace
  2. Good working knowledge of office applications such as MS Word, Excel & Google docs
  3. Able to work flexibly within a team, asking for & giving support as needed
  4. Able to learn to use own initiative, to follow procedures & learn to work to deadlines
  5. Aware of health & safety, equality & diversity in the workplace
  6. Willing to learn about safeguarding roles & responsibilities & procedures of the Children’s Centre
  7. Punctual, with an understanding of the impact absence has on the effectiveness of the team
  8. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check will be required for this post


  • Anyone aged 16 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • Applicants that hold a degree or equivalent qualification will not be eligible to apply
  • GCSE’s passes in maths and English are not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT (if required)
  • Level 2 BIIAB Diploma in Business Administration
  • Minimum Duration: 12 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
