Employer description: Secondary School which is part of an Academy Trust.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4.15 pm or 9.00 am to 4.45 pm with 30 minutes lunch (to include 7 hours per week to spent on off-the job apprentice training activities)

Annual holiday entitlement: 24 days (to be taken outside of term-time) plus statutory days

Pay: £201 per week with a six-monthly pay review

Location: Feltham TW14 9PE

Job description: Working within a busy school office team:

  • Providing support on reception e.g. answering phones, transferring calls & dealing with personal callers
  • Dealing with incoming / outgoing post & filing, photocopying & scanning
  • Typing up documents & letters using Word & use of Excel
  • Accessing the school database to gain information for teachers & students
  • Updating the school database with changes to address, phone numbers & other information
  • Monitoring & ordering stationery
  • Providing support to reprographics
  • Providing administration support for the finance team
  • Providing support to colleagues & students at lesson change-over & break times
  • Undertaking any other duties in line with the general level of responsibility of the post

Skills & abilities required:

  1. Excellent communication skills with clear spoken English
  2. Knowledge of customer care, able to deal professionally with personal & telephone callers
  3. Accurate I.T. skills, knowledge of MS Word, Excel & the Internet
  4. Able to work flexibly within a team, asking for & giving support as needed
  5. Able to understand & respect the importance of confidentiality, both within & outside the workplace
  6. Aware of Health & Safety and Equality & Diversity
  7. Able to understand the importance of being punctual & the impact absence has on the effectiveness of the team


  • Anyone aged 16 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • GCSE passes in maths, English and ICT at grade 4 and above are desirable
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour (Not currently applicable)

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT at Level 2 (if required)
  • Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard
  • Minimum duration: 15 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
