Employer description: Community interest organisation providing children’s services for LBRUT, RBK and RBW&M

Hours of work: 9.00 am – 5.15 pm (Monday – Friday) with 1 hour for lunch

Annual holiday entitlement: 25 days plus statutory days

Pay: £165 per week with six-monthly pay reviews

Job description: Supporting the 14-19 Team with administration

  • Updating standard documents using Word accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Creating, monitoring and updating spreadsheets
  • Updating and adding records accurately to databases
  • Mail merging documents, posting and distributing to clients
  • Scanning paperwork and saving electronically
  • Assisting with projects and event administration as required, in particular, helping with hall bookings for external customers, ensuring meeting facilities are in place, directing delegates, and helping to restore the hall at end of day
  • Making appointments and arranging meetings, including booking rooms
  • Opening and distributing incoming mail / dealing with outgoing mail
  • Answering phones, taking messages and transferring calls from internal and external callers as necessary
  • Filing – paper and electronic records
  • Under supervision, processing invoices and submitting to Finance for prompt payment

Skills and abilities required:

  1. Meticulous, well organised and able to check and verify information
  2. A good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  3. Able to understand and respect the importance of confidentially, both within and outside the workplace
  4. Good communication skills with clear spoken English
  5. Able to learn to use own initiative, but also to follow instructions and report back when tasks are completed
  6. Learn to work to deadlines while prioritising and managing own workload
  7. Able to work flexibly within a team, asking for and giving support as needed
  8. Punctual, with an understanding of the impact absence has on the effectiveness of the team
  9. Aware of health and safety, equality and diversity in the workplace


  • Anyone aged 16 and over may apply for this apprenticeship
  • GCSE passes in maths and English are desirable but not essential requirements
  • Applicants must reasonably be able to travel to work within a maximum of 1 hour

Apprenticeship Information:

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship Framework in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT at Level 1 (if required)
  • Level 2 BIIAB Diploma in Business Administration
  • Minimum duration: 12 Months
  • A minimum of 1 day per week will be allocated for training purposes
